The industry is looking ahead and trying to envision future challenges and their solutions. Bio- based active and intelligent packaging suggests a very possible alternative. Further research on edible coating based on naturally derived resources to make biopolymers also shows promise, as well as research on reusable packaging, especially for reducing waste in the agro-industry.
