High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) in Materials Development
High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) became an established technology in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in the 1980s. However, this NL looks at the more recent developments in applying the methodology in the discovery and development of new materials technology. The includes a very recent development relating to the semiconductor industry as well as more traditional work relating to catalysis in the development of polymers with tailored and improved properties. Biofuels is also another area where HTE has become an important tool. This technology is a key enabler as industry develops new nano-materials, but is extremely powerful in any class of materials development that requires a number of iterations and exploration of a broad and complex parameter space.
