Materials for Biomedical Applications II
Materials development in the biomedical field have made tremendous progress in the last decade, evolving from passive biocompatible components to active intelligent systems. Developments in materials science in parallel with developments in semiconductors, nanotechnology and information technology have yielded a variety of devices that are invaluable in the medical and surgical industries. “Lab-On-A-Chip” systems have opened a new frontier in the development of sensors and medical devices. In this newsletter, Baverstam presents exciting new developments in materials for biomedical applications with an emphasis on surgical systems. It also presents a selection of new biomedical materials related applications not covered in the previous newsletter.
